Exclusive: Louis Vuitton and the 2024 Olympics

At the Olympic Games in Paris this summer, the medals will be presented to the winning athletes on a tray by Louis Vuitton , which is adorned with the French luxury house’s signature motifs.

The exterior of the trays, which are crafted by artisans at the studio in Beaulieu-sur-Layon in the Maine-et-Loire region, features the brand’s timeless Damier pattern, created in 1888. The interior is lined with matte black leather, a nod to the Louis Vuitton “Torches and Medals” trunks. Each tray can hold two to six medals, all of which were designed by the jeweler Chaumet.

"We didn't just want to contribute to the opening ceremony as a creative partner; we also wanted to be present throughout the entire event, including the athletic portion, and we found a way to do that that is very discreet and, paradoxically, very visible at the same time," said Antoine Arnault, LVMH's head of communications, image, and the environment.

In addition to the trays, Louis Vuitton has also designed a unisex uniform for the medalists, consisting of a polo shirt, loose-fitting pants, and a Gavroche cap—a nod to the style of the 1924 Olympic Games in Paris. “We have designed an elegant, simple, and comfortable outfit so that the medalists can perform at their best while hundreds of millions of eyes around the world are focused on them,” Arnault continued.
